Working with me

Do you work with clients outside Canada?

Yes. I work remotely with businesses and nonprofits across Canada, the United States and internationally. Everything from the first call to launch happens online, by video, phone and email.

What does a freelance SEO consultant do?

A freelance SEO consultant improves how visible your website is in search engines, through technical fixes, on-page optimization, content strategy, local SEO and link earning, and reports on the results. As a developer as well, I can implement the changes myself.

Why hire a freelancer instead of an agency?

You work directly with the person doing the work, usually at a lower cost, with less hand-off between people. Agencies make sense for very large teams and budgets. For most small and mid-size businesses, an experienced freelancer is faster and more accountable.

How much does a website cost?

Most small business websites cost between $1,000 and $10,000, depending on size, design and features. I quote a fixed price after a free consultation. See my website cost guide for typical ranges.

How much does SEO cost?

Most SEO retainers fall between $501 and $2,000 per month. My SEO pricing guide explains the ranges and what you should get for your money.

Is SEO still worth it in 2026?

Yes. Search, including AI Overviews and AI assistants, still sends more qualified visitors to most businesses than any other channel, and the fundamentals that earn rankings also make you citable in AI answers.

How long does it take to build a website?

Most small business sites take 4–6 weeks. Online stores and custom functionality take longer. The biggest factor is usually how quickly content and feedback come back.

Which platforms do you work with?

Mainly WordPress and WooCommerce, plus Shopify. I’ve also worked with Joomla, Magento, VirtueMart and X-Cart, and I build lightweight static sites like this one.

Will I be able to update the site myself?

Yes. Every site comes with training and a simple editing setup. If you’d rather not, I can handle updates on a care plan.

Who owns the website?

You do: the domain, the hosting account, the content and the code. I’m happy to work in accounts registered in your name.

Do you offer website maintenance?

Yes. Monthly care plans cover updates, backups, security monitoring, uptime checks and small edits. Some clients have been with me for more than 15 years.

Can you fix a hacked website?

Yes. I remove malware, close the vulnerability, harden the site and request removal from Google’s blocklist. See hacked website repair.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes. Projects are split into milestones, and payment plans are available on request.

How quickly do you reply?

Usually within one business day (Pacific Time). For urgent problems like a hacked or down site, call me.

Have a project in mind?

Tell me what you’re planning. I’ll reply within one business day with honest advice and a clear next step, whether or not we end up working together.
