Hi, I’m Mihail Mitov
A web developer and SEO consultant who has been building, ranking and looking after websites since 2000. You may also know me as Michael.
How it started
In 2000 I took a few computer courses and built my first website. A year later I left Europe for Canada and kept coding, first in FrontPage, writing HTML and CSS by hand, then in Dreamweaver.
From 2001 to 2008 I built and maintained the websites of a nonprofit organization. That’s where I fell for SEO: testing what made pages rank, long before “SEO” was a job title. Along the way I moved to content management systems, first Joomla, then WordPress.
Deon Designs, the IT industry and eCommerce
In 2008 I founded my company, Deon Designs, and moved into the IT technology industry, taking on bigger web development and SEO projects. From 2010 I added eCommerce: WooCommerce, Magento, Joomla VirtueMart, Shopify and X-Cart stores, while continuing to support nonprofits.
In 2018 I joined an SEO agency as Website Developer and SEO Project Manager, building websites and web stores, maintaining client sites, and working deep in digital marketing, hosting and local search. Today I bring all of that to my own clients, with AI automation built into my workflow and theirs.
How I work
I keep things simple: honest advice, fixed quotes, clean code, and regular communication. I’d rather tell you that you don’t need something than sell it to you. That’s why many clients stay for a decade or more.
My path, year by year
First website
Took computer courses and built my first website.
A new start in Canada
Left Europe for Canada and kept coding, building and maintaining websites in FrontPage (HTML and CSS).
Nonprofit web work and SEO
Built and maintained websites for a nonprofit organization and went deep into SEO, moving from FrontPage to Dreamweaver, then to WordPress and Joomla.
Deon Designs founded
Started my own company, Deon Designs.
IT industry
Moved into the IT technology industry and expanded into larger web development and SEO projects, with a lot of studying, research and SEO testing.
eCommerce
Started building on eCommerce platforms: WooCommerce, Magento, Joomla VirtueMart, Shopify and X-Cart, while continuing to work with nonprofit organizations.
SEO agency
Joined an SEO agency as Website Developer and SEO Project Manager, building websites and web stores, maintaining client sites, and working across digital marketing and hosting.
