One person who builds the site and makes it rank

Most businesses end up juggling a designer, a developer, an SEO agency and someone who “does the updates”. Each blames the others when something goes wrong.

I’ve done all of those jobs since 2000. I started coding in FrontPage, moved through Dreamweaver, Joomla and WordPress, founded Deon Designs in 2008, and spent years as Website Developer and SEO Project Manager at an SEO agency. Today I specialize in WordPress and WooCommerce: development, maintenance, security, speed, local search, audits, analytics and conversion optimization.

When you hire me, the person you talk to is the person who does the work. Nothing gets lost in hand-offs, and the site is built to rank from the first line of code.

How a project works

A clear, fixed process so you always know what happens next.

  1. Free consultation

A 20–30 minute call or email exchange about your goals, your current site and your budget. You get honest advice, even if that means I’m not the right fit.

  2. Proposal & fixed quote

A written scope with deliverables, timeline and a fixed price split into milestones. No open-ended hourly billing on projects.

  3. Discovery & planning

Research into your customers, competitors and keywords, then a sitemap and content plan we agree on before design starts.

  4. Design & build

Design first, reviewed with you, then development on a private staging site you can click through at any time.

  5. Launch

Final checks for speed, SEO, forms, tracking and redirects, then a careful go-live with monitoring afterwards.

  6. Care & growth

Training so you can make edits yourself, plus optional maintenance, SEO and improvements month to month.

Questions people ask before hiring me

Do you work with clients outside Canada?

Yes. I work remotely with businesses and nonprofits across Canada, the United States and internationally. Everything from the first call to launch happens online, by video, phone and email.

What does a freelance SEO consultant do?

A freelance SEO consultant improves how visible your website is in search engines, through technical fixes, on-page optimization, content strategy, local SEO and link earning, and reports on the results. As a developer as well, I can implement the changes myself.

Why hire a freelancer instead of an agency?

You work directly with the person doing the work, usually at a lower cost, with less hand-off between people. Agencies make sense for very large teams and budgets. For most small and mid-size businesses, an experienced freelancer is faster and more accountable.

How much does a website cost?

Most small business websites cost between $1,000 and $10,000, depending on size, design and features. I quote a fixed price after a free consultation. See my website cost guide for typical ranges.

How much does SEO cost?

Most SEO retainers fall between $501 and $2,000 per month. My SEO pricing guide explains the ranges and what you should get for your money.

Is SEO still worth it in 2026?

Yes. Search, including AI Overviews and AI assistants, still sends more qualified visitors to most businesses than any other channel, and the fundamentals that earn rankings also make you citable in AI answers.
